The Day the Games Stopped
The slowest sports day of the year is the day after Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game. That’s today.
There are no major league pro baseball games because everyone is off for the All Star break. There are no pro basketball games because the season just ended. Congrats, Spurs. There is no pro hockey because their season just ended also. Congrats, LA Kings. There is no pro or college football yet either. Training camps will be starting later this month, so we’ll soon have that going for us, but right now, there is not a whole lot going on fan-wise in pro football either.
It is every sports fan’s worst nightmare. There are NO games today. Today is the day that the games stopped. It’s one of the two days of the year when none of the pro sports have any games, the day before the All Star Game being the other.
It kind of shows how all pervasive sports has become in this country, where every single day there are games to be looked forward to, and all sports junkies have to go through withdrawal for the one or two days around this time of the year that there are simply no games being played.
So there are no games today. But, we will all get through it, right? Because tomorrow’s gonna be another day. And there will be games again.
