That’s a Lotto Money
Millions and millions of people play the lottery. They are hoping to win millions and millions of dollars. And the odds of these millions and millions of people of winning those millions and millions of dollars are, quite frankly, minuscule. With the odds of winning the lottery at approximately 175,000,000 to 1, it’s more likely you will be struck by lightning, hit a hole-in-one in golf AND catch a foul ball at a baseball game — all on the same day.
In other words, chances are you are NOT going to win the lottery when you plunk down your buck or two to play the game.
But, there is someone who is winning the equivalent of lotto several times a year and they aren’t even buying lottery tickets. They are called NBA players and they rack up their lotto winnings every time they negotiate a free agent contract.
Carmelo Anthony – Five years for somewhere north of $120 million.
Chris Bosh – Five years for approximately $118 million.
Le Bron James – Two years for $42 million.
There are lots and lots of players getting huge contracts. The AVERAGE NBA salary is now somewhere around Five million a year.
That’s a lotto money.
Moms and dads, the secret to hitting the jackpot in life is not in buying lottery tickets. It is in having a kid who is tall, can shoot a basketball through a hoop, can run, jump, dribble, rebound, and maybe play a little defense.
That ain’t working. That’s the way you do it.
Playing basketball in the NBA in this time and place in history is better than winning the lottery.
